Industrial Areas

One hundred and six industrial areas are distributed on all the territory with a surface of 3350 hectares and are equipped with many conveniences. A program on the adjustment of 642 hectares distributed on 18 areas of which 11 coastal areas and 7 interior areas are planned over the period 2002-2006.

Free-trade area with the European Union

Since January 1st, 2008, Tunisia constitutes a free-trade area with the European Union for the industrial products, becoming thus the 1st country of the strand south of the Mediterranean to put a free-trade area in place with the EU: The implantation in Tunisia permits to reach the biggest market to the world, the European market and to several markets of this space Too.

The Tunisian Code investments Incitation grants advantages common to all activities and advantages specific to the sectors and activities considered to be priority such as agriculture, fishing, textile, NTIC, pharmaceutical one...

• Total exemption from the income tax during the first 10 years for the agricultural incomes coming from export, projects and the projects of regional development.
• Payment of the tax at a reduced rate of 10% as from the 11th year.
• Total exemption from the rights and taxes for the imports of equipment, raw materials and the semi-manufactured goods for the completely exporting companies and this, in addition to the suppression of the tariffs applied to the imports of the equipment and the raw materials coming from the European Union in accordance with the provisions of the Association Agreement.
• Total assumption of responsibility by the State, for one-5-year period, of the social security contributions for the recruitment of new Tunisian graduates from higher education.
• Assumption by the State of 50 % of the social security contributions during 5 years, for the employment of a second or third team for the companies not functioning at a continuous flow.
• Exemption of the tax of vocational training and the special bottom versed to the national fund of social security for the completely exporting companies.
