Situated to the north of Tunisia, the Ariana constitutes one of its most important suburbs. It benefits from an infrastructure of modern base; the access by air, sea and road is comfortable:
- The airport international Tunis Carthage is to 5mn the Ariana.
- Two lines of subway light binder the Ariana in Tunis.
- An important road network joining the gouvernorate with the adjacent gouvernorates.
- The port of the goulette is 25 km from Ariana and the port of Rades is accessible by the means of the of the ferry
- The gouvernorate has significant hydraulic resources with 5 hill lakes, a deep water layer of 3 mm3, a ground water de13.8 mm 3.
- Several existing industrial areas including one arranged in Sidi Thabet:
- It is the only gouvernorate having two Technoparks: Elghazala Technopole of Technologies of the communication and BiotechPole Sidi Thabet.
Richnesses and potentialities:
A varied and charged economic layer composed of 271 industrial units (having 10 people and more) including 136 completely exporting operating primarily in the sectors of textile and clothing, the agri-food industry one, mechanics and leather and shoes.
A financial and banking network covering all the territory of the area.
A very vast agricultural surface (31688 ha including 8279 ha of forests and course) and fertile (23409 ha of useful agricultural surfaces) distributed between the various cereals, fodder, fruits, the market gardening, the industrial crops …
The Rose Garden, situated in Bir Belhassen park, covers a few 3000 m² and shelter 16 000 rosebushes and cuttings of which 90% belong to the variety of Ariana Rose. This variety is introduced in 1637 by the Andalusians. The garden continues by the Gallery of the Rose developing the historic, natural and cultural aspects of this flower.
International Cooperations:
The city of Ariana maintains cooperation and friendly relations with several other cities of which some go back to more than 20 years such us the Moroccan city "Salé" related to the city of the roses by a protocol of twinning signed on May 8, 1982 and the French city "Grasse" known for its international reputation as regards plantation of the roses and of industry of the perfume.
